Computer Grades
The students computer grade is comprised of three areas.
40% of the grade is touch typing.
40% of the grade is computer activities.
The final 20% of the grade is based on observation of the student's quality of work and work ethics.
Touch typing
During touch typing I am looking for four traits; using correct fingers, not looking at your fingers, staying on task, and good posture.
Computer activities
Each week the students learn and practice many computer skills and concepts. A more complicated lesson will often have a rubrics which I put on the board explaining the value of each component. If I do not tell the students otherwise, I grade the lessen as follows:
Grade Typical behaviors
A+ the student has done everything I ask for and has done something extra which demonstrates that the student understands the lesson.
A the student has done everything I asked for with good quality of work.
A- the student has done what I asked but with poor quality of work
B the students shows that he understands the lesson and has done most of what I asked but did not manage his time well
C the students shows that he understands the lesson but only accomplished part of what I asked
D the student puts in little or no effort and/or is mildly disruptive
F the student puts in little or no effort and/or is disruptive to other students
If the student puts in good effort and still gets a low grade due to not understanding or poor time management, the student may makeup/finish the lesson and get a higher grade.
Accommodations are made where appropriate.
