My favorite free software
Open office
- This is a free Microsoft office compatible suite of
programs. The suite includes a word processor, spreadsheet,
database, presentation program, and drawing program.
Drawing for children – This is a great paint program for young to middle aged children.
Irfanview – Irfanview is
a simple photo browser and editing program. I recommend this
program for browsing through photo collections, cropping, resizing, and
printing photos to any given size .
photofiltre – Photofilre is a good program for touching up photos.
Pixia – This is another photo touch up/paint program.
Gimpshop – This is the most powerful program for touching up photos or advanced painting.
Picasa – This program by Google is for managing picture collections. It also has a good red eye reduction tool.
Nvu – Nvu is a web page editor.
Google toolbar – If you’re using the Microsoft Internet explorer, I strongly recommend the global search toolbar.
Firefox - Their
fox is a free competitor to Microsoft Internet explorer. One
feature that Firefox has over Microsoft is that it will print web pages
that are wider than a piece of paper correctly.
Opera – Opera is another popular Internet browser.
Ipodder - You
don't have to have Ipod to listen to a podcasts. This
program will download and manage your podcast collections.
Trillium - Trillium is an
instant messenger client. It works with AOL, MSN, and several
other instant messenger servers. But it is much less invasive to
your computer and causes much less problems.
Audacity – This is a multitrack audio editing and recording program.
Video LAN client - This is a multimedia player that will play almost any type of video or audio including movie DVDs.
Moviemaker 2 - If you haven't updated to the new version of movie maker it's worth your effort to do so. It’s much better
Graphcalc – A free graphing calculator.
treesize – This program will help show you where all the space on your hard drive went to.
