Smokey House – 7S is currently participating in their study at Smokey House. Their presentation will take place the afternoon of Friday, June 4th.
Last Day of School – The last day of school will be Thursday, June 10th. As always, we will hold our “end of the year” picnic (hotdogs and hamburgers). It will be an early dismissal day at 12:30 p.m.
Summer School – Summer school letters are presently being sent home. If you believe your child would benefit by attending summer school, please get in touch with me.
Library – Library books are not permitted to be signed out of school from this point until the new school. Students will be receiving a list of the books they have due. If you have any outstanding books, please return them. If you cannot find them, please check with Mrs. Tate and pay the lost fee. If at a later time you find the book, you will receive a refund. Anyone who owes books or payments to the Library at the end of the school year will not receive their report
card until the situation is settled. I would like to thank everyone ahead of time for your cooperation in this matter!
Arriving on Time – At present, tardy arrivals seem to be increasing. Please make every effort to arrive at school before 8:10 a.m. In this manner, you will insure a timely arrival. Thank you for your cooperation in this area. I greatly appreciate it!
Emergency Closings – Closings will be announced on the major television stations. The AlertNow system will automatically give you a call as well. You can also call the school if there is a question about school being open. The answering machine will announce the closing if it is in effect.
First Day of 2010-2011 School Year – The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 25th. Calendars will be sent home with report cards on the last day of school.
Joke – What made the pianist so great? He always used his key players!
Joke – What pet makes the loudest noise? A trumpet!
Keep smiling!
James Merryman

Annual Fishing Derby
The Manchester Ranger District of the Green Mountain National Forest, in partnership with Trout Unlimited, is hosting its 20th Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Hapgood Pond Campground in Peru on Saturday, June 12, 2010. The derby will be held rain or shine! Registration will begin at 8:30 AM, with fishing from 9:00 to 11:00. The festivities will continue until about noon. Our youth fishing day is held in conjunction with National Fishing Week, and June 12 is Free Fishing Day in Vermont!
Area youth, ages 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, are invited to join in the fun. Contests will be held for longest fish and most fish caught by age group. We are hoping to have a raffle gift and a certificate of participation for each angler.
Donations and volunteer help are being provided by many organizations and members of our community. Grab your rod and come to Hapgood Pond to enjoy fishing on your National Forest. Questions may be directed to the Manchester Ranger Station at 362-2307.
Any questions, call Bob Bayer of the Forest Service at 362-2307 ext. 218
The Dorset Exchange (owned by Stephanie Breed and Diane Hollingshead) has opened a DPV account at their wonderful Dorset consignment shop. When you are dropping off items for re-sale, please consider earmarking a part or all of your consignments for the support of DPV programs. Thanks!
